Attack the Block (2011)

Director: Joe Cornish
Writer: Joe Cornish
Starring: John Boyega, Nick Frost, Jodie Whittaker

Story When aliens attack a London estate the local gang must join forces with non-gang members to stop the aliens

Verdict The story bit is short because I simple didn’t like this movie. It was full of stereotypes and jokes that just are not funny. On a more positive note the alien are more original than normal being a pitch black with glow in the dark teeth. I feel this could have be a more serious movie show how an estate would unite and put away difference to over come the problem.
Story Mark 8/10 Good idea but not what it could be
Action Mark 6/10 A few comic chases but nothing stand out
Comedy Mark 6/10 Easy lines but stereotyped ones
Horror Mark 7/10 Has a scare factory but not a jump factor

This has been a short review because I just didn’t like this movie. I am not a fan of the how gang mentality running through London and it was painfully stereotyped movie. This should have work as a horror drama but horror comedy with bad jokes no it doesn’t work.

My Rating 54%
