Story/Plot - Jack (Hoult) is sent to the market by his uncle in order to sell his horse and obtain thatch to fix his roof. Jack meets Isabelle (Tomlinson) who unknown to him at first is the princess. Jack arrives home with nothing but some beans, and to his uncle's dismay the beans are thrown and one makes its way under the house.
That night the princess, running away from the palace arrives at a house in the rain, not knowing this is where Jack lives. Suddenly a beanstalk emerges through the house and Jack attempts to rescue Isabelle but falls to the floor. Awoken by the King (McShane) Jack explains all and embarks on an adventure with Elmont (McGregor) to rescue Isabelle.
On the way the meet some unexpected enemies, giants and Rodrick who turns against them to use the giants to take the kingdom as his. Time is against Jack to save Elmont from being baked and Isabelle from being made into a princess pie.
The King makes a decision to cut the beanstalk down. Somehow Jack and Isabelle make it back down as does Elmont after a battle with Rodrick. Isabelle and Jack part their ways until more beanstalks make their way down and with them giants.
Jack races to Isabelle and the King and a battle ensues with only one possible victor.
My verdict - A great fun film. I enjoyed this a lot and never expected to laugh as much as I did. Ewan McGregor is acting at his best with a funny yet serious portrayal of his character Elmont. The gorgeous Eleanor Tomlinson makes her character Isabelle her own and Nicholas Hoult as Jack is the best fit to a character I have seen for ages. This is a must watch for some quality acting, filming and cgi work.
