Title - Ned Kelly

Year of release - 2003

Genre - Western

Length - 1 hour 50 minutes

Who is in it? - Heath Ledger as Ned Kelly, Orlando Bloom as Joseph Byrne, Geoffrey Rush as Supt Francis Hare, Naomi Watts as Julia Cook and Joel Edgerton as Aaron Sherritt to name a few.

What's it about? - Ned Kelly is a outlaw on the run considered a villain by some and others as a folk hero. The film allows you to see both sides of the story and also captures a great atmosphere particularly in the final moments.

Is it any good? - For me, this is one of the most satisfying and exciting western films around alongside the likes of 'The Good, The Bad & The Ugly, Fistful Of Dollars, Once Upon A Time In The West etc.
Heath Ledger portrays Ned Kelly and gives a great performance that is both convincing and honest to the character.

Making this film stand out above other Westerns is the fact that you unusually feel for Ned Kelly regardless of his ruthless actions because as you learn, there are reasons for his actions and it really is an eye-opener. At two hours long, I think the film is well constructed with no added unnecessary time fillers and no drawn out scenes, it all seems to work perfectly with a great cast of characters and one of Heath Ledger's finer performances.

Why should I watch it? - Ned Kelly is a stand out Western and should not be overlooked. I would recommend the film to all Western lovers as well as people new to the genre because it really is not just about guns and robbery, the film goes deeper and revolves around the life of a legendary bushranger; Ned Kelly

How do you rate it overall? - 9/10
